‘Draw Your Bow’ features a strong connection with both Cupid and Eros, the Gods of love in both Roman and Greek mythology. How did mythology inspire this track, specifically those Gods?
Zef Parisoto: "My mother and I both read all the Percy Jackson books back when I was a teen. Gawsh, that was a long series! I don’t remember too much, but the fascination for all those ancient mythological stories remains to this day! I’d say, even without that, I see Cupid, the God of love, as a widely recognized, fun character to be casually addressed in a song!"

What sound design techniques did you use to create a sense of love, feeling and desire?
Zef Parisoto: "I think most of that impression actually stems from the composition, the chord progressions especially! What makes the melodic lead feel so lamenting though, I would say, is the combination of the sync morphing and pitch bending in Serum. Also the movement in the sub all comes from a frequency shifter, which makes it sound so squeaky. Obviously almost every other element in the drop is using my plugin FLVTTER with the sub as an input 😏"
Is there a specific moment in the track where the theming embodies the track?
Zef Parisoto: "To me, the “hey Cupid” moment captures exactly this emotion of trying to be nice, cause I’m speaking to a literal God, but also subtly letting it shine through how annoyed I am by how dating works in this decade. It’s quite passive aggressive, if you will! Putting on a smile when you don’t want to."
How does ‘Draw Your Bow’ fit into your overall style as an artist?
Zef Parisoto: "This song reflects quite well what I’m trying to achieve and would dare to call my unique selling point: Telling a story with a pop song structure and style of singing, but expressing the emotions through raw electronic sounds. I’ve also been quite on a ride of slow-bpm bass music recently, which ‘Draw Your Bow’ also heavily leans into."
What do you want the listeners to take away from this track?
Zef Parisoto: "On a technical level, I feel like this may be the best mixdown I’ve ever achieved, so even for non-producer listeners I hope it’s perceived as clean, loud and catchy just by the sound of it. Apart from that, I hope to make the point a little clearer that bass music isn’t always just about the drops."
If you had to challenge either Cupid or Eros in a duel, what weapon would you choose? (besides a bow and arrow!)
Zef Parisoto: "MY CHARMING PERSONALITY hahahah"
