Q&A w/ Vetala!

Fellow UK producer going by the name of Vetala has answered some of our questions, building up to his first major release, on 'Abandonware: Level One'!

Find out more about his style, how he came up with the name Vetala, and more!

Q1. Welcome to Full Flex Audio Vetala! For those that don’t know about your style, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into the dubstep scene?

"My name is Kyle, I’m From the north east of England. My style mainly consists of what I’m feeling at the time. I try not to get too stuck in one particular sound or rhythm, I just enjoy making whatever I like! I’m fairly new to the scene, only beginning to make music in late 2019. I remember watching a CRWTH stream where he gave feedback to people's music and DVEIGHT, Extinction was played. I just wanted to try and make music ever since."

Q2. Is there a meaning behind the name Vetala?

"During university I lived with a lot of Indian guys who gave me the name idea as it is based off of Hinduism."

Q3. We all start off somewhere in the music scene. What would your advice be to those that are just starting out in their musical journey?

"Simple. Be yourself and make what you like. Don’t get caught up in numbers and if you ever feel drained, don’t force yourself to make music."

Q4. When writing music, what are some techniques that you keep in mind to avoid a writer’s block?

"If I ever get a writers block I will take some time away to draw inspiration. My music is ALWAYS based off of an idea whether that be a movie, item or even a photo."

Q5. What are your influences/inspirations into making your own music?

"My inspirations have always been the same. DVEIGHT was the first person from the underground that I heard along with Seker and, what was, M!dnight (Voysol). I have a lot of people who inspire me and lots of friends who have always helped me. Shoutout Pyrosite, he has truly always been there and I wouldn’t be on this label without his help and guidance, not to forget his unwavering support."

Q6. What are your short and long term goals for music throughout 2021?

"My short term goal is the same as my long term goal. To have fun, be true to myself and push the underground forward."

Q7. Where do you see the future of electronic music going, especially dubstep?

"Dubstep is an amazing genre. There are endless possibilities and such talent right now. I honestly couldn’t tell you where the scene is heading but it’ll only head towards new exciting areas."

Q8. What are your favourite plugins for music production?

"I use corpus a lot. I love to frequency shift and KhS Transient Shaper has been really useful to me."

Q9. Describe 'Data Bounce' in only 3 words!

"Fun, Bouncy, Futuristic"

Q10. What’s your most favourite style of music? And what is your least favourite style of music?

"My favourite style is Dubstep, the Versa, Infekt, Akeos and Hukae. I don’t have a least favourite style of music it all has a place. I'll often listen to dubstep and then listen to some orchestral pieces."
