Q&A w/ Cadilius! 🚀

We are back with the Q&As! Cadilius has been kind enough to answer some of our best questions, including who his inspirations in music are, what the listeners can expect from his upcoming single 'Mars', favourite plugins for music production and more!

Welcome to Full Flex Audio! For those that don’t know about your style, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into the EDM scene?

"I’m a producer from near the Toronto area of Canada. I started producing music around 6 years ago with garage band until a friend introduced me to FL Studio. Back then I was really into the house scene with artists like Martin Garrix and Avicii. Recently, I’ve been shifting my focus towards trying to carve my own sound and creating something new."

What can the listeners expect from your single, 'Mars'?

"Hopefully they hear something not quite like anything they’ve heard before. I really tried to provide and interesting sonic pallet for this tune."

Every artist suffers from writer's block at some point in their musical journey. How do you overcome a writer's block?

"If I’m having a day where nothing seems to stick, I just take a break. I think it’s important to have other hobbies that can kind of distract from writer’s block and recharge the creative battery."

What/who are your influences/inspirations into making your own music?

"As of recently, my friends have influenced the way I think about music a lot. None of them know much about creating music so it’s always interesting to hear their ‘simplified’ ideas about music. It’s kind of hard to explain.

In terms of artist that inspire me, Flume has always been a massive influence along with some more niche artists like Xander and Jkuch."

What are your favourite plugins for music production?

"I really enjoy Raum from Native Instruments. It’s a very pretty reverb that’s also capable of creating some interesting sound design effects."

When creating your tracks, where do you start?

"A song can start from anywhere from me; however, I have found the most success from starting with chords. I keep a folder full of chord progressions I find interesting to aid in inspiring me down the line."

What’s your most favourite style of music? And what is your least favourite style of music?

"I really love the Night Owl Collective style. The genre of the collective is kind of this chill/heavy experimental jazz/electronic music that sounds quite unique. It’s always been a huge inspiration ever since I found the collective. My least favourite genre by far is country. There seems to be no effort made to progress the genre. Each song sounds indistinguishable from the next. It also sucks that it’s the ‘main’ genre in the area I live."

Do you have any other hobbies, besides music production?

"I’m really into film. I love movies that give off a cool vibe or really make me feel something. I also love the way that it takes a whole team of people to work together to achieve a creative vision. Aside from film, I’m really into climbing. It’s fun, I get to spend time with friends, and it gets me out of my production dungeon."

Cadilius - Mars drops on July 18th, you can pre-save it right here in preparation for the release day!
