'NOTHING IS STATIC' Q&A!

As 'NOTHING IS STATIC' draws ever closer to its release day, we grabbed Joro Dudovski for some questions, on what it's like to come up with a 5-track EP, that is all DNB inspired...

Also get a sneak peak into 3 forthcoming tracks on NOTHING IS STATIC, only in the Flex Zone!

Can you tell us a bit more about what inspired the title and theme of this EP?

"I have a list that contains title ideas for songs that I’ve been collecting through the years. Like literally anything that gets my attention gets in there. Most of it, it’s from books that I’ve read. So when the time came to choose a name for the EP, I went through it and I found “Nothing is static” and was like “that's it”."

How does "NOTHING IS STATIC" differ from your previous releases in terms of musical direction and style?

"‘Nothing is Static' is more about the tech-y aspect of the drum and bass or at least that’s how I picture it haha. But I also wanted to have a liquid vocal track that it’s not just random vocal samples or splice acapella as I’ve done before but work with a real vocalist. Although This is not the first time for me  to be working with a vocalist, but it has been so long ago, so we might just call it a first."

Are there any particular artists or musical influences that played a significant role in shaping the sound and direction of the EP?

"I listen to all kinds of music, so I bet my brain collects inspiration from all over the place. But for this specific EP,  I was inspired by producers like Phace, Secula, Grey Code, Imanu, Tom Finster and many more."

In the production of this EP, did you incorporate any unique instruments or techniques that set it apart from your earlier works?

"Not specifically since I’ve noticed that the more music I make the more I refine my techniques. Of course there will always be something new that you will explore as a technique or even a sample library or a plugin, but at the end of the day, every track is different so the technique that worked on track 'A' might not work on track 'B' and vice versa."

What was it like to work with a vocalist like Sahala?

"It was amazing! She is such a great person and also super professional. Since I’ve always been a fan of the liquid dnb, I had that idea in my head that I wanted to make a liquid track. So I reached out to Sahala and asked her if she is willing to make a track together. The next day I got a message back, saying that she is definitely down for it. So I gave her a few references of what I was planning our track to sound like. Few days later I had a rough draft that I sent over to her so she can figure out her parts. And then the rest was history."

What are your expectations and hopes for the reception of "NOTHING IS STATIC" from your fans and the music community at large?

"I’m trying to not have too many expectations since I’ve learned my lessons about it and I feel it’s just better for your mental space to try and stay open to whatever happens. Of course I would love people to enjoy the release fully and if they do please reach out and let me know! Probably one of the best things is when you get a message on instagram or discord from somebody that you’ve never met that says that they are really enjoying my music. Because at the end of the day, this is the fuel that makes me wanna come back to my computer and make some more music!"

After the release of "NOTHING IS STATIC," what are your future plans or projects in the music realm that your fans can look forward to?

"I have so many tracks that are finished and waiting for the perfect time to be released. Some of them are older, some of them newer. So really people can expect anything from me haha. Also I’ve been back on collaborating with friends which is always fun. But in general I just plan to release the best music I can and have fun while making it. :)"

P.S

Also I would love to thank the Full Flex Audio team for giving me a platform to express those ideas to their full potential and being patient with me during the process! <3
